Our client Colin was Elderly and had separated from his wife Jan. Both Colin and his ex-wife Jan remained in the same home due to the fact that the escalation in cost-of-living pressures would mean that both would suffer financial stress if they sold the family home.
Both parties had no intention of resuming their relationship however were genuinely concerned for each other’s well-being and so decided to divorce but remain in the same home.
What is particularly important to note was that while Colin was in good health, Jan was not. Despite not being ill enough to require a full-time carer, the arrangement of remaining in the same home seemed to work well.
However, it was important for Jan to know that they were divorced. We assisted Colin with this matter to which he was very appreciative of the empathy and understating provided by our service.
Colin also reiterated that he was very much obliged that we had assisted him and that no cost was incurred. He said, “for pensioners, this is so helpful as we don’t have funds to do things like this”.
