Generalist Report
Throughout 2021-22 our service employed three generalist lawyers (2.4 EFT) to provide advice and representation for clients across our region.
Areas of law included debt, employment, consumer law, crime, fines, tenancy, powers of attorney and dispute resolution. In addition, we continued to provide outreach services for the family violence lists at the Magistrates’ Courts in Ararat, Stawell and Horsham and a monthly legal advice service at Langi Kal Kal Prison and Hopkins Correctional Centre. Despite the ongoing COVID interruptions we were able to provide these important services and achieve positive outcomes for many clients.
We also delivered a number of community legal education sessions and reinstated our volunteer solicitor advice sessions on Wednesday evenings and Friday afternoons thanks to the generous pro-bono support from local practitioners.
